Northbound Episode 5 - The Dempster Highway

This is the story of our Journey to the Arctic Ocean at Tuktoyaktuk. Tuktoyaktuk is a small Inuit village in the far north of Canada. 10 years prior, you couldn't have driven here in the summer as there wasn't even a road. But now, the infamous Dempster highway goes all the way to the Arctic Ocean. In fact, this is the only year-round public road that accesses the Arctic Ocean in North America. (The Dalton highway stops miles before the Arctic Ocean). Just for this fact alone, Overlanders are flocking to the Dempster Highway. The Dempster is 550 miles (886 km) of graded but very dusty dirt road from the Klondike Hwy to Tuktoyaktuk. This route takes you through some of the most remote areas in North America.
